Capital District Woman Starved, Neglected 31 Horses, Police Say A woman from the Capital District is accused of neglecting dozens of horses to the point of starvation, authorities said. Washington County resident Wendy Murphy, age 54, of Granville, was arrested Friday, Sept. 2, on 31 counts of animal cruelty. It followed an investigation by state police, Washington County Animal Control, and the SPCA of Upstate New York into allegations that horses on her property were being neglected, police said. Reckless Driver Going 110 MPH Nabbed After I-84 Pursuit, CT State Police Say A Connecticut man is facing charges for allegedly fleeing the scene of an accident before leading police on a high-speed highway chase that topped 100 miles per hour. The ordeal began at around 3:15 p.m. Sunday, July 10, when Massachusetts State Police in Worcester County attempted to stop a Nissan Altima in the town of Charlton. Suspect With Criminal History Nabbed For Smash-Grab Burglary At Hudson Valley Store, Police Say A man with a history of smashing his way into Hudson Valley businesses is once again behind bars for allegedly breaking into a smoke shop. In Ulster County, police in Saugerties were called at around 7:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, with reports of a commercial burglar alarm at the Smokers Choice store, located on Ulster Avenue. Yonkers Man Among Trio Nabbed In $701K Fraud Scheme, Feds Say Three men are facing federal charges for allegedly using other people’s identities to defraud the New York Labor Department out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Errol Murray, age 21, of Yonkers; Taliek Lanier, age 22, of Albany; and Thomas Brace, age 61, of Altoona, Pennsylvania, formerly of Albany, were all arrested on federal charges of mail and wire fraud, plus identity theft. Capital District Woman Nabbed 2 Years After Stealing Rental Car, Police Say A woman from the region is facing charges, nearly two years after she allegedly stole a rental car from Georgia, authorities said.
