Man Armed With Box Cutter Rescued From Train Tracks By Police In Westchester A distressed man armed with both a box cutter and a screwdriver was saved from train tracks in Westchester County by several police officers. The incident happened on Friday, Feb. 3 around 3 p.m. in Rye, when police learned that a potentially suicidal man was standing on the train tracks by the Rye train station. Woman Who Dedicated Life To Helping Less Fortunate Dies At Age 54, From Hastings-On-Hudson A woman from Westchester County who dedicated much of her life to social service has died at the age of 54. Hastings-on-Hudson resident Sonia Daley died on Friday, Feb. 10 at the age of 54, according to her obituary. Born in New York City in 1968, Daley earned both a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Staten Island and a Master of Arts from the New School of Social Research before starting her career in social work, joining a resurgent settlement house movement in New York City. Smoke From Blazing Brush Fire Spreads Through Neighborhood In Hudson Valley Police are asking residents to avoid a neighborhood in the Hudson Valley where firefighters are battling a brush fire. The fire broke out in Putnam County on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 15, in the area of Tulip Road in Mahopac, according to Carmel Police. The fire itself is in a wooded area and poses no immediate threat to homes, but the smoke has spread through the neighborhood. Police are asking people to avoid the area as the fire is put out. Drunk Driver Leads Police On Chase On I-95, Resists Arrest In Waterford Despite numerous attempts to escape arrest, an alleged drunk driver was brought into custody by police in Waterford. The incident began on Tuesday, Feb. 14 around 9:40 p.m., when state police learned of a car driving erratically on Interstate 95 over the Gold Star Bridge in New London. Car Slams Into Tractor-Trailer On I-84 In Vernon, Driver Gets Out With Help From Samaritans A person was injured after their vehicle crashed into a tractor-trailer on Interstate 84 in Vernon. The crash happened on Tuesday, Feb. 14 around 5 p.m. on I-84 eastbound just after the Exit 66 on-ramp, according to the Vernon Fire Department. Vehicles Stolen From Car Washes In Mamaroneck: Police Looking For Suspects Police are looking for suspects who stole vehicles from car wash locations in Westchester County. The thefts occurred in three separate incidents on both Monday, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. and 9 p.m., and on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 3:45 p.m. at car washes in both Mamaroneck and Pelham Manor, according to the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department. Person Sent To Trauma Center After Being Hit By Car Near Croton-On-Hudson Shopping Center A person was sent to a trauma center after they were struck by a vehicle near a Northern Westchester shopping center. The incident happened on Tuesday, Feb. 14 around 4:30 p.m., when a person was hit in Croton-on-Hudson on Maple Street near the Van Wyck Shopping Center, according to the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department.
