Duo In Runaway Stolen Car Caught On Taconic State Parkway In Yorktown, Police Say A man and woman both face charges after they were caught on a Northern Westchester parkway in a stolen vehicle that had been driving from the scene of a crime, police said.  The incident happened on Saturday, Aug. 5 just before 1:15 p.m., when Yorktown Police were notified of a stolen vehicle driving north on the Taconic State Parkway that had allegedly been involved in a crime committed in New York City. Purr-fect Rescue: Kitten Found Stuck in Shaft Inside Residence In Yonkers Thanks to the efforts of firefighters, a small kitten was rescued from the depths of a shaft inside a residence in Westchester.  The rescue happened on Saturday, Aug. 5, when members of the Yonkers Fire Department performing routine fire prevention work heard crying sounds coming from a residence at 56 North Broadway.  According to Yonkers city officials, the family living there, who had requested a check of their smoke alarms, told firefighters that a kitten was stuck inside a shaft in the building.  Crews then sprang into action and first worked to lower down a pot filled with food and …

Ramp Closure: Route 9A, Taconic State Parkway To Be Affected In Mount Pleasant A ramp in Northern Westchester will soon be impacted by a planned closure.  The ramp between Route 9A/100 to the southbound Taconic State Parkway in Mount Pleasant is planned to close on Saturday, Aug. 12, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.  The closure will last between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. and is planned to allow for guide rail repairs.  Commuters should use the posted detours as an alternate route, officials said.
