Philly Man Accused Of Attacking Man He Knew With Sledgehammer On Jersey Shore: Police A Philadelphia man was accused of hitting another man in the head with a sledgehammer in Monmouth County, authorities said. Michael Gonzales, 36, was arrested on Friday, Apr. 5, a Middletown police spokesperson said. He was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes. South Jersey Teen Charged In Shopping Plaza Double Shooting An Atlantic County teen was charged in a double shooting in the parking lot of a Galloway shopping plaza on Easter, authorities said. Evan Hayes, 18, of Mays Landing, was arrested on Friday, Apr. 5, the Galloway Township Police Department said in a news release. He was given several charges, including aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Absurd Items, Fewer Plastic Bags Found On NJ Beaches By Volunteers In 2023 Volunteers cleaning New Jersey's beaches in 2023 found hundreds of thousands of pieces of debris, from typical garbage to some very strange items. The environmental nonprofit group Clean Ocean Action (COA) released its 2023 Annual Beach Sweeps Report on Thursday, Apr. 4. The report shows data about the litter found on the Garden State's beaches by COA's 3,664 volunteers. COA noted that there were about 60 percent fewer volunteers during the 2023 sweeps due to bad weather. Toms River Man Sentenced For Dealing Heroin Throughout Ocean County A Toms River man was sentenced after admitting to selling heroin throughout Ocean County, authorities said. Zachary Lockwood, 25, was sentenced on Friday, Apr. 5 to 10 years in prison, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced in a news release. He'll be eligible for parole after five years.
