'Cowboy Hero' Dies After Lightning Strike While Warning Kids On NJ Beach About Storm: Reports
A Toms River man died after a reported lightning strike on an Ocean County beach, authorities said. Patrick Dispoto, 59, was found unconscious on the beach near J Street at around 7:38 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, a Seaside Park Police Department spokesperson told Daily Voice. He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police said Dispoto had no visible signs of injuries. There were also no witnesses so investigators haven't confirmed if his death was caused by lightning or "another medical issue." A Wawa is opening in Monmouth County and the convenience store chain will celebrate its 60th anniversary along with the new location, officials said. The new Wawa will be open at 3052 Route 35 in Hazlet on Thursday, June 27, the company said in a news release. $50K Scratch Ticket Purchased At Central Jersey Wawa, Lotto Officials Say
A convenience store in Monmouth County sold a scratch lottery ticket worth $50,000, officials said. The winner was purchased at the Wawa on Route 9 North in Howell Township on Sunday, June 23, the New Jersey Lottery said in a news release. The winning ticket was for the game called $50,000 Loaded. This was the second big winner of the weekend for a scratch-off player in the Garden State, with a $250,000 ticket purchased in Morris County.

A Philadelphia teen was arrested and several other people were wanted in a fight near the Atlantic City Boardwalk, authorities said. Joseph Miller, 19, was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and possession of a large-capacity magazine, the Atlantic City Police Department said in a news release. Man Dies By Suicide After Shooting Woman In Atlantic County Home, Authorities Say
A Pleasantville man shot a woman before he died by suicide, authorities said. Pleasantville police responded to a domestic violence report at a home on South Third Street at around 4:05 a.m. on Sunday, June 23, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release. A person in Atlantic County was seriously injured while in a tree cutting branches, officials said.
