The Yorktown Foundation for Excellence Hosts 2015 Camp Fair YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- The Foundation for Excellence in Yorktown Education will host its annual Camp Fair from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, at Mildred E. Strang Middle School, 2701 Crompond Road. Parents can visit representatives from a wide variety of camps including day camps, teen travel, special needs, sports and more. Harold R. Cowen, 79, Yonkers Native Worked As Steamfitter YONKERS, N.Y. -- Harold R. Cowen of Yonkers died Monday, Jan. 19. He was 79. Cowen was born on May 1, 1935, to Harold and Frances (Marziotti) Cowen in Yonkers, where he was raised and graduated from Saunders High School.  He was a steamfitter for over 50 years, retiring in 1995. On May 31, 1958, he married Elizabeth (Betty) Landy in Sacred Heart Church. Harold was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and served in the Army. He was stationed in Germany. Accident Clogs Interstate 95 South In Greenwich GREENWICH, Conn. -- Traffic was backed up on Interstate 95 southbound Tuesday as the result of a one-car accident between exits 2 and 3 in Greenwich at 4:35 p.m. There was no estimate on how long it would take to clear the incident. Traffic was backed up to Stamford on the southbound side of the highway. The accident closed one lane on I-95.

Somers Girl Scout Tara Lockwood Plans Bone Marrow Registry For Gold Award SOMERS, N.Y. -- Tara Lockwood, a senior at Somers High School in Lincolndale, is nearing completion of her Gold Award project for the Girl Scouts to create awareness for bone marrow transplants. Lockwood's goal is to spread awareness about bone marrow transplants and being a donor. Registering for the bone marrow transplant is much easier and non-invasive than people realize. The procedure for registering  is a swab of the cheek. Lockwood believes increasing awareness can help leukemia patients extend their lives. Registration Opens For Stamford KIC It Triathlon STAMFORD, Conn. -- Registration has opened for the Navigators Stamford KIC It Triathlon, including Sprint and Olympic distances, a kids race and new this year -- 5k and 10k runs. The Olympic Distance  and Sprint Distance Triathlon will be held on Sunday, June 28. The Kids Triathlon will be run on Saturday, June 27. The new 5k and 10k will also be held on Sunday. Shrub Oak Man Charged With Harassment SHRUB OAK, N.Y. -- Yorktown police arrested a Shrub Oak man and charged him with harassment. Christopher Basso, 54, was charged after police responded to a home on Dane Street, where a resident said he was harassed by Basso.  Basso was served with a summons at his home on Jan. 7. He was released to appear for arraignment in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday.

23 Westport Nonprofits Share $338K In Grants From Norwalk-Based Foundation NORWALK, Conn. — A total of 23 nonprofit groups in Westport received 44 grants totaling more than $338,000 from Fairfield County’s Community Foundation and its donors in the last fiscal year. Also, Westport students received nine scholarships totaling more than $25,000. The Norwalk-based Community Foundation and its donors awarded $12 million in grants in fiscal 2014. Nearly $5.5 million was awarded to 341 nonprofits in Fairfield County. In addition, 262 scholarships totaling more than $707,000 were awarded to local students.
