Darien Football Players Challenge Brien McMahon In 'Lifting Grace' DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien High School football team will square off in a weightlifting competition on Friday against their counterparts from Norwalk's Brien McMahon High School to help raise funds to find a cure for Rasumussen's encephalitis. Lifting Grace, as the event is known, is named after Grace Wohlberg, a Darien High School junior who has the disease. New York Ranked Among World's Safest Cities WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- New York City was ranked the 10th safest city in the world, according to a story posted on MarketWatch.com. New York was the only city in the United States to make the top 10. The story said the city's homicide rate has fallen sharply from a record-high of 2,245 in 1990. In 2013, the city recorded just 335 homicides. New York ranks third for digital security, putting it in the top 10 on the digital security list. Retail Sales Fall During Rough Winter WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- February retail sales fell for the third straight month, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday. Despite an improving job market and cheaper gasoline prices, sales fell amid rough winter weather and consumer caution.  Sales fell 0.6 percent in February, according to the Commerce Department. Man Charged In Fraudulent $33K Wire Transfer In Wappingers Falls WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. – A New York man faces felony charges after he was arrested by New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations from the Wappinger barracks . Chem Davis, 20, faces charges of grand larceny, third degree, a Class D Felony.     Police said Davis played a role in a fraudulent bank wire transfer sent in October of 2012, involving a Village of Wappingers Falls business.
