Team Sotheby's From Southport Nets $28K In CT Challenge SOUTHPORT, Conn. -- Brad Kimmelman, the brokerage manager in Southport for William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty, and his teammates surpassed $28,000 in during Saturday's CT Challenge bike ride. Team Sotheby's included President and CEO Paul Bruenich, COO Vin Socci, Kimmelman and other other colleagues and friends. There were 24 riders on the team. Last year, Team Sotheby's raised approximately $7,000. Proceeds support cancer survivorship programs sponsored by the CT Challenge. Zangrillo Leaves A Lasting Legacy In Darien DARIEN, Conn. -- Stephen Zangrillo knew his customers at Darien Sport Shop, and he never forgot them. Fairfield Fury Softball Program Schedules Tryouts FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield Fury softball team will host tryouts for the 2016 season at Dougiello Field in Fairfield. All tryouts begin at 6 p.m. Tryout days are Monday, Aug. 3, for 10-and-under players; Tuesday, Aug. 28, for 11-and-under players: Tuesday, Aug. 4, for 12-and-under players; Wednesday, Aug. 5 and Monday, Aug. 17, for 13- and 14-year-old players; and Thursday, Aug. 6 and Tuesday, Aug. 18 for U15 and U16 players. Westport Woman Wins 2 Gold Medals At U23 World Championships FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Westport’s Lizzy Youngling won two gold medals over the weekend as a member of the United States team at the World Under-23 World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Westport’s Max Meyer-Bosse won a silver medal, while Erin Reelick, a Brookfield resident who rowed for Norwalk-based Connecticut Boat Club, also won a gold medal. Antonio Oliveira Sr., 89, Lived In Ossining OSSINING, N.Y. -- Antonio Oliveira Sr. of Ossining died on July 24. Oliveira was born on Oct. 28, 1924 in Porto de Mos. Portugal. He was 89. He is survived by his wife Julia Oliveira and four children: Maria Leonor Neto, Antonio Oliveira Jr., Armanda Martins and Jose Oliveira. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Services will be held at Dorsey Funeral Home in Ossining on Tuesday, July 28, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be held Wednesday July 29 at 10 a.m. at St Ann’s Church. Interment to follow at St Augustine’s Cemetery.

Stamford North Little League Reaches State's Final Four STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford North Little League reached the Connecticut "Final Four" Sunday with a dramatic 5-4 win in seven innings over Fairfield American in the Division 1 tournament at Scalzi Park. Stamford North will play Division 2 champion Southington South in the state championship round on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in Newington. Waterford and Norwich are the other two teams in the state final four. The state tournament continues through the weekend.
