Man Killed, Woman Injured In Shooting Near Capital Region Schools A police manhunt is underway after a shooting that left a man dead and a woman injured near several schools in the region. Emergency crews in Rensselaer County were called at around 2:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, for a shooting in Troy’s Lansingburgh neighborhood, near 6th Avenue and 105th Street. Child Sex Abuse: Capital Region Man Nabbed Years After Victimizing 2 Kids, Police Say A 35-year-old man from the Capital Region is behind bars, accused of sexually abusing two children. Warren County resident Joshua Tessier, of Glens Falls, was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 8. New York State Police announced the arrest Monday, Sept. 18. According to troopers, Tessier had inappropriate sexual contact with two children in Kingsbury in Washington County in 2020. Investigations were tipped off about the alleged abuse in April 2023. Street Turns To River After 107-Year-Old Water Main Ruptures In Capital Region (Developing) Crews are responding to a “substantial” water main break in the region that has inundated a residential neighborhood with a torrent of flood water. The Rensselaer County incident happened at around 2:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18 in Troy’s Lansingburgh neighborhood, near 7th Avenue and 124th Street. Animal Cruelty: Dog Dies After Being Left In Crate Nearly Week By Long Island Woman, Police Say A Long Island woman is facing animal cruelty charges after her dog died several days after it was reportedly abandoned. Kiswanda Franklin, age 33, of Huntington Station, was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 13, according to Suffolk County Police. Investigators said Franklin left her three-pound Yorkshire Terrier-Maltese mix in a crate inside her East Pulaski Road apartment for six days beginning on Friday, July 14.
